  • Obsessed Bird Photographer "With a pocketful of biscuits I set out to explore the inventions of God." - John Muir. We (Dorothy and I) photograph at You Yangs, and Eynesbury, and the Werribee River Park, as often as we can. We also spend time at the Western Treatment Plant for Shore, Water birds and Raptors. We live in Melbourne Victoria Australia, in the West Western Suburbs, and close to Werribee Treatment Plant, the second highest rated bird watching site in Australia. We also work in our old haunts at Woodlands Historic Park. I've been involved in photography all my life. Until recently we shot illustrations for a number of magazines, and I've been teaching photography for about 15 years. Now slowing down a bit and enjoying the birds. I've only become a Flickr folk in the year or so, but really enjoy the community, the photos, the comments and the photo friendships that have developed. (old photo pun!). Quotes I like: Kalahri Bushman. When you track an animal{bird} - you must become the animal. {Bird} Tracking is like dancing, because your body is happy - you can feel it in the dance and then you know that the hunting {Birding} will be good. When you are doing these things you are talking with God.' Courtesy of Jon Young. Rod MacIver Heron Dance We sit in quiet drinking tea Without words, unable to talk, nothing to say In the mountains. Henri Cartier-Bresson The Decisive Moment "There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative," he said. "Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever." No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist. Oscar Wilde You can observe a lot just by watching. Yogi Bera
